ARC Review: The Master by Tara Sue Me

The Master is part of the erotic Submissive Series, it's the story of Sasha and Cole. Prior to this installment, I read two other books in the series which focuses on a group of play partners. I really liked one of the books, The Collar, but this book reminded me more of the The Exhibitionist which I did not like as much.

Tara Sue Me is an incredibly talented writer in the erotic genre. She really excels at character building and conveying the connection between the main couple. In this book, Sasha (who appears in other books in the series) has suffered a serious trauma during a play session that got out of hand. Sasha's prior incident put her in the hospital and left her with acute PTSD. Despite her history, Sasha still desires sexual domination and wants to veer back into a Dominant/submissive relationship. Enter Cole. Cole is the "bad ass" Dom who knows how to deliver both pain and pleasure on levels that have become the stuff of legends in the play group. Cole is more than just a Dom, he is accustomed to a Master-Slave relationship.

The play group decides that Cole is the perfect person to transition Sasha from the traumatized sub who had a bad experience back into the proud submissive that she was on the road to becoming. I'm not entirely sure why the group thought that Cole was the best match for Sasha but hey, I just kind of went with it. My issue with the book is that because of Sasha's trauma, Cole decides that he can't have sex with her. So a lot of the book is Cole teaching Sasha how to be a submissive and how to trust a Dom. And that's ok but it got to be kind of tedious and went on for just too long. A subtext develops between Sasha and Cole as Sasha gets to know Cole more and their relationship moves past physical training to something more emotional. Sasha decides that she wants to try being Cole's slave and a new training process starts (lucky for us, that one involves sex).

My problem with the whole book is that it is very very mid-tempo. It's not fast or slow, it just kind of goes along somewhere in between. The issue is that there isn't any real extrinsic conflict in the plot. All of the conflict is internal to the characters. It is about their mental struggle to accept their relationship beyond the time boundary they put on it. This is a book that it would be really hard to spoil because not a whole lot happens beyond what you could read in the synopsis. The weird thing is, I'm not saying the book is bad, it wasn't. It just wasn't compelling and I was disappointed because both Cole and Sasha had the capacity to give us so much more. Despite the fact that these books continue to be a little low energy for me, I will keep up with the series just because the writing and erotic content is so good.

ARC Review: Three Dirty Secrets by Nikki Sloane

I absolutely love this series! Nikki Sloane writes some of the hottest books I have ever read, and I have loved each book in the Blindfold Club series. Three Dirty Secrets is the fourth book in the series, but each can be read as a standalone since they are about interconnected characters. Regan and Silas were great, and I really enjoyed their story.

Working at the blindfold club Regan sells sex for money, though her body isn't for sale. When she catches her boyfriend with another woman and he tells her that she is cold and detached, she is ready to change that. Needing to do something, Regan decides to let go of her fears and get a tattoo despite her fear of needles to cover up a painful memory. What she doesn't expect is the sexy artist who will be giving her the tattoo. The connection between her and Silas is instant, and hotter than anything she felt with her ex. But being with him threatens everything that she has been working for, and Regan has secrets that she can't have revealed. After being hurt in the past by a liar, Silas doesn't put up with anything but honesty. So what happens when the truth about Regan's secrets finally comes out?

I really loved Regan and Silas. These two were perfect for one another. Silas was sweet and sexy, and I couldn't get enough of him. He was great with Regan, and really helped her with a lot of what she was going through. He had a way of getting her to open up and talk about things that she really needed to, and I liked seeing her grow and heal with his help. Regan was strong, but she had some issues because of her past. Seeing her really embrace her desires and find someone that she could share that with was something that I really enjoyed. Her ex might have thought that she was cold, but it was clear right from the start that they weren't compatible. She needed someone who could give and take, and Silas was exactly that guy for her. He allowed her to explore her dominant side, while also taking control when he needed to as well. These two were so steamy together, and I couldn't get enough of them.

Overall, another great book in this series. I really enjoyed the story and Silas and Regan are definitely one of my favorite couples. It was so good to see familiar faces here, and I always love getting to catch up with my favorite characters. I don't know how Nikki Sloan does it, but just when I think she has written my favorite couple she goes and gives us another couple that is just as fantastic as the previous ones. If you are a fan of erotic romance with great writing and a ton of steam, this series is an absolute must read! I can't wait to get more from Nikki Sloane and I can't recommend these books enough.

ARC Review: Dirty Sexy Saint by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

I’ve read a few of Carly Phillips books before and I know that she does not disappoint. One of the reasons that I enjoy her books so much is because her characters always have the best chemistry. I have to admit there have bene books where I did not love the story line but the tension between the characters made a big difference. Erika Wilde has been on my to-read list forever and just the busyness of life and a packed reviewing schedule have stopped me from reading her work, so needless to say when I saw “Dirty Sexy Saint” I jumped at the chance to review.

This story does not disappoint. I could not put it down and I loved both the hero and the heroine. Clay Kincaid was a great hero. He was intense and broken but easily very likeable. One of my huge pet peeves is when men are portrayed as bad boys and their really just immature jerks. Clay was the perfect combination of wounded but redeemable. I loved him and found him to be very sexy. Not do be outdone by Clay, Samantha Jamieson was a great heroine. I really liked her even though she was very rough around the edges. When Samantha stumbles into Clay’s bar he can’t turn his back on her. Clay is nicknamed “Saint” because he is known for always giving those in need a helping hand, and Samanth or “Cupcake” as she is nicknamed.

This book was intense and steamy and very, ultimately satisfying. I loved the creativity of the story and the very different backgrounds that brought Saint and cupcake together. This was the type of book where you can’t wait to finish it because you want to see how the story unfolds yet at the same time you can’t help but feel bummed because it’s finished and you miss the characters. The only compensation to this type of scenario is the knowledge that this sis the first in a series. Both Wilde and Phillips write a fantastic love story of triumph and perseverance. I can’t wait for “ Diry Sexy Inked” the next book!

Review: Sloth by Ella James

Sloth by Ella James is one of those books that I have been wanting to read for quite awhile, yet for one reason or another I just hadn't got around to it. I had it sitting on my kindle for months, but it wasn't until my friend told me I had to read it so she could talk to someone that I did. While I read this book, I experienced so many different emotions and I bugged my friend for answers constantly. She wouldn't give me anything though and just told me to keep reading, and I am really glad she did that. This book was an experience, and I really believe that it is best to go in blind.

Normally in my reviews I give a brief synopsis and go into a bit of detail on the story itself. I really feel as though I cannot do that here though, because the smallest thing could spoil everything. So if you want to know more about this book, read the blurb and go from there. I do think that this book is best when read blind though, so it is my recommendation that you go into this one avoiding any and all spoilers. This book won't be for everyone and there are a few times that I will admit I wanted to give up. But it was definitely worth the read and once I got to the end pretty much everything made sense. The one thing that I will say is that I spent the majority of this book confused. There were times that I had absolutely no idea what was going on, and I really thought that it might not be worth continuing. But I was wrong and I am glad that I stuck with it.

I had times where each of these characters frustrated me and I didn't understand them or their motivation. That being said I really loved them! Their connection was so strong and captivating and I could not put this book down. I couldn't get enough of them, and I had to get answers. With each new piece of the puzzle revealed, there were several more questions as well. But I just had to know what would happen and how everything would all come together in the end. My emotions were all over the place here, and I felt invested in the outcome. Ella James did a great job of sucking me in and making me feel here. I didn't always enjoy it as I was frustrated and upset, and yet I can't deny that I loved every bit of that. It was so raw and real and was truly an experience unlike I have ever had with a book before.

The biggest criticism I have here is that I believe that with some changes, this book could have been truly epic. The story and all the elements were there, and yet there were a few things that just didn't work for me. While I was confused most of the time and figured most of it out at the end, there were a few things that were left unresolved or simply not dealt with. Ella James does have a group on facebook that you can join with a post containing FAQs and answers for those that were like me and still wondering about some things, and while that provided the answers I was seeking I felt like that was a bit of bs. I think that so many more readers would love this book had all of that information been included in the story itself. I understand that this book is very long as it is, but by cutting out some of that pertinent information, the story ended up suffering. This very easily could have been a longer book or even two books as I really feel like the extra information was needed and the pages warranted. I am sad to see that what could have been a fantastic book was only good because of that.

This story jumps around between past and present, as well as different POVs and I think at times it was overly confusing. I understand wanting to keep readers on the edge of their seat and not reveal everything right away, but I think that there had to have been a better way here. Not only did we switch between POVs and past/present, but this book was also broken down into three separate parts. It was very hard to keep track of the timeline here, and I found it impossible at times to figure out where and when we were or what was happening. I still really liked the story though, and even with the negatives, I would still recommend this book. I think it is one of those books that almost needs to be read a few times to fully pick up on everything though, especially after going back and seeing how every little detail adds up to what is all really going on. This book is definitely hot though, and the steam between these two is off the charts! If you are looking for a truly original story that will keep you guessing, all while delivering a deep connection and ton of steam, this is the book for you! I honestly can't wait to read more from Ella James and I am definitely looking forward to reading Murder, which is about a character that was introduced here. I am so excited to get his story, and I am looking forward to reading more in this series.

ARC Review: Dirty Together by Meghan March

Dirty Together is the third and final installment in the Dirty Billionaire trilogy by Meghan March. This needs to be read in order as the Holly and Creighton's story has continued from one book to the next. So if you haven't read Dirty Billionaire and Dirty Pleasures, start there and beware of possible spoilers below. That being said, I highly recommend this series if you haven't read it yet and these books are definitely some of my favorites!

Dirty Together picks up where Dirty Pleasures ends, with Holly once again having run from Creighton. But Creighton is determined to show her once and for all that they belong together. He will continue to chase her until she finally sees that what they have is real and that they are better together than apart.

I have really loved getting to know Holly and Creighton as this series has progressed, and I can honestly say that I never loved them more than I did here. These two were finally finding themselves on the same page, and their bond just continued to strengthen. Creighton was still dirty and sexy and commanding, yet he had a softer side here that I adored! His love for Holly continued to deepen, and it was clear that she was it for him and he would do anything to show her that. Holly had some insecurities and fears that had her running more than once, but she was finally starting to see that she was worthy of being with Creighton. Yes they were different, but the feelings they shared were real and went beyond their differences.

Overall, a great ending to this series and I am sad it is over. I really love these characters and Meghan March is a fantastic writer. I am a huge fan of hers, and with each new book I read from her I continue to be impressed by the stories and characters she creates. I can't wait to see what she writes next, and I highly recommend her books. If you like sexy heroes and great romance stories, her books are not to be missed!

ARC Review: Off the Clock by Roni Loren

I absolutely love Roni Loren! Not only does Roni Loren never disappoint, but she continues to impress me with her captivating stories, sexy heroes and likable heroines. Just when I think I have a favorite book of hers, she comes out with a new one that takes the other's place. Off the Clock is the first book in her new Pleasure Principle series, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! I love her Loving on the Edge series, but this was a fantastic start and I can't wait for more of these characters!

Marin Rush and Donovan West met when they were in college and shared a week together over spring break in the lab at their school. While doing research things got hot between them, but their lives went in separate directions. Now nine years later, they are once again thrown together when Marin takes a job for The Grove, a high-end sex therapy institute that specializes in experimental treatment options for their elite clientele of celebrities and rich people. Marin needs Donovan's help to land a permanent position and to help her out since she is about to become the only sex therapist that isn't having sex and is as inexperienced as they come. While Donovan has been trying to land a promotion and needs to show that he can be a good mentor after his last two therapists quit. But when Donovan gives her a list of tasks and research to help her get familiar with sex and the kind of things her clients will be coming to her for, things begin to heat up between them all over again. So when he offers to help her hands-on and off the clock, can they keep things between them so that neither of them get fired or attached?

I really liked these two. The chemistry between them was off the charts from their very first encounter and I couldn't get enough of them! Donovan and Marin were super sexy together and I loved their banter. Their relationship had a natural ease to it right away, and it was clear that they were able to talk to one another about pretty much anything. Both Donovan and Marin had some really rough times that they had dealt with, and they were able to relate to one another in a way that others didn't understand. I loved seeing them talk with one another and share their stories as well as help each other move forward. Donovan wasn't looking for a relationship and he thought that he was incapable of being someone that deserved Marin. But Marin was great with him and showed him that there was more to him than that, and I thought that she was exactly what he needed. He was great for her as well, and he really helped her to open her eyes to sex and becoming more comfortable with herself and the subjects she would be facing with her clients.

Overall, another great book from Roni Loren and I honestly cannot wait for more from her. Roni Loren writes such great stories, with each being filled with enough steam and sexy moments to keep you reading, but also enough emotional times to keep you invested in the characters and their relationship. If you are new to Roni's books, this is a great place to start, though I definitely recommend her Loving on the Edge series as well. If you are already a fan of hers though, Off the Clock is a must read and a great way to kick-off her new series.

ARC Review: Boys of Fall by K.D. Wood

Boys of Fall is the first story in the Seasons Erotic Novellas series from K.D. Wood. It is a standalone and the first book I have read from K.D. Wood. While I expected this to be novella length, I didn't expect for it to be so short. At just 60 pages, there isn't a lot of story here. I really enjoyed what there was, but I wanted more.

Autumn Landry and Jerry Mathews have both wanted each other for as long as they can remember. But due to Autumn having been in a relationship, they remained just friends. But when Jerry sees Autumn pleasuring herself and secretly watches, he knows that he needs to say something to her. Autumn and Jerry both plan to attend the annual bonfire to celebrate their school's upcoming game against their rival, and both of them decide that they can't wait any longer to let the other know how they feel and see where things go.

I liked both Autumn and Jerry. They had great chemistry and a believable connection. I think it helped that these two knew each other previously, so it felt real and natural. I would have liked to have seen a bit more of them together, but there just weren't enough pages here. These two were smoking hot together though, and I absolutely loved how right they were for one another.

If you are looking for something with a lot of depth or development, this definitely isn't the story for you. It is so short that there isn't a lot to each of these characters or to the story itself. But if you are looking for something super sexy that can be read quickly, this is one you really should check out. I think that had this one been a little bit longer it would have been even better. I was on the fence between 3 and 4 stars, but with the length it just wasn't able to quite get there for me. I will read more from K.D. Wood though, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for the next Season Erotic Novellas book.

ARC Review: Wicked Lust by Sawyer Bennett

I have to start by saying that while I am an avid fan of the erotic romance genre and also a fan of this particular author, this book crossed some of my personal taste boundaries. I say that because I think it's fair to give you context for why this was a four-star star read for me as opposed to a higher rating. I am NOT a reader who enjoys a hero that is willing to share the heroine. I am much more inclined towards the intensely jealous, possessive heroes. So without spoiling too much for you, the first thing you should know about this book is that you will read about the characters engaging in sex with other people. As far as the hero, his only "extra heroine" activities are prior to his relationship with the heroine, the same cannot be said for her.

Now for some specific information about the book, this is the story of Sloane and Cain. Sloane is an undercover reporter looking for a story about the rumored Silo. The Silo is a sex club which may or may not have ties to a political scandal which Sloane has been assigned to investigate. When the book begins,Sloane believes that she may be able to use a relationship with Caine as an in to the club. The "fake" relationship quickly evolves into more for both Sloane and Caine. The book becomes about Caine's journey to introduce Sloane to her deepest desires and her corresponding struggle to do her job without falling deeper in love with Caine.  An extra twist is thrown into the book when Sloane loses control of the story she is supposed to be writing.

I think this book is 4 stars because of the relationship between Caine and Sloane, the erotic content and the overall plot.  I pretty much liked Sloane as a character.  Sloane seems intelligent and driven.  Even though her quest to sort of bring down the Silo might irritate you, she is a woman of principles and quickly abandons that pursuit.  The best part about Sloane is that she was true to her feelings and willing to give up everything based on what was really important to her.  I have less clear feelings about Caine.  I didn't really feel like we got a lot of information about Caine so I'm not sure I walked away feeling like I really knew him.  Also, Caine very much gave me a total sexual debauchery vibe.  Now if you know me, you know I'm a fan of steam but even I have limits, Caine had none. Well, maybe there was one limit but it was all by itself.  Caine was into girls, guys, groups, rape fantasy etc. etc. etc. It was just a bit much for me. And then there was Caine's reaction when the truth about Sloane comes out.  I got that he was mad, but in my opinion his reaction went too far and it went on for too long.

Overall, this was a good book even though it wasn't really the right book for me.  For all you super freaky erotic romance fans, you don't want to miss this one.

ARC Review: Seduction in Session by Shayla Black and Lexi Blake

This book gave me EVERYTHING that a reader like me needs, just everything. You'll have to excuse me because I'm in the middle of a serious book hangover. I'm a romance, bossy alpha male, mystery, suspense and action girl. I got ALL of that from this book with several sides of heaping hot sex and it gave me life.

If you want to know what to expect in this book, think the TV show Scandal meets, Patriot games and is the cousin of that movie The Skulls. It was all of that. The underlying story is that Lara writes a political tabloid of sorts. Lara is a crusader, she uses certain salacious details to get readers to pay attention to stories written for the greater good of society. Lara stumbles on some serious ish involving the President and the entire country. As a result of her discovery, Lara is intercepted by Connor who poses as a bodyguard assigned by a "friend" to protect Lara. Connor and Lara have an instant attraction, explosive chemistry and diametrically opposed world views. It's a lot of fun.

I don't even know where to start about what I loved about this book. I loved the romance between Lara and Connor. Lara is maybe not the strongest heroine but she was sincere and believed in the greater good. Connor is a complete cynic because he has seen and done the very worst things in life. Lara brings Connor into the light. With Lara, Connor learns that there is actually good in the world and Lara learns that she doesn't need to be an absolutist about her principals. It is fun to watch the couple grow as individuals and then to grow together. I love that Connor is so bossy and so brooding and so protective, he's just sooo everything. Nothing is half way with Connor, he is intense and I loved him for that.

The other thing about this book that I believe any reader like me would enjoy is the whodunnit aspect. There are layers of mystery in this book and untangling everything, or trying to, is extremely entertaining. The pace of the book doesn't lag for a minute, there is action and intrigue lurking around every corner. When you think you know what's going on, you don't. I really appreciate how the author wove detail after detail into a giant mystery that is going to continue in the next book. Even though the big mystery continues, I didn't at all feel like this book ends on a cliffhanger. All the issues between Connor and Lara are wrapped up and the next book picks up with Dax investigating the big mystery. I can't wait for that!

Did I mention that Connor has a dirty dirty mouth and loves to use it on Lara? Oh yes, the sex was HAWT and totally worth the read. This was a great book and I highly recommend you read it.

ARC Review: Dirty Pleasures by Meghan March

Dirty Pleasures is the second installment in the Dirty Billionaire Trilogy and needs to be read after Dirty Billionaire as it continues Holly and Creighton's story. I couldn't wait to get more of these two after where Meghan March left us with that cliffhanger, and I am so glad that I didn't have to wait long! I am loving this series, and I need the next book Dirty Together!

Creighton and Holly got married, with each of them having their own reasons for the spur of the moment wedding. While Creighton is used to getting everything he wants, Holly is determined to stay true to herself as she pursues her dream despite all of Creighton's rules. But when their relationship becomes more and more real, both Holly and Creighton begin to realize that they might actually be falling for one another.

I loved these two even more here than I did in the first book. That isn't to say that this book was without a few issues for me though, because there were a few things that I felt these two needed to work on. Creighton was still the sexy alpha that we fell for in the first book, but it was great to see a bit of a softer edge when it came to Holly. Holly is still full of sass and refuses to give up who she is and what she wants, even for Creighton. But these two really started to find a balance here, and I loved seeing them together. They are so perfect together, and it was really apparent that their feelings for one another are very real and are only growing stronger. The chemistry between these two was hotter than ever, and if there is one thing that needs no improvement between these two it is the physical connection they share. I would like to see these two communicate better, because so much could be solved if they would just talk to one another. I also wish that Holly would give Creighton more of a chance at times rather that instantly running.

Overall, I love the way things are going for these two. Besides the few issues, mainly their communication, this book was so good. It was sexy and hot, and I couldn't put it down. Dirty Pleasures does end with another cliffhanger and I knew it was coming, yet I still wasn't ready for it! I need to know what happens next for these two and I am glad that there isn't much time in between release dates. If you are a fan of Meghan March, you will love this series. If you are new to her books you should definitely check them out since she is a fantastic writer. The Dirty Billionaire series is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and I can't wait to see where Meghan March takes these characters next.
